Single Batch: Serves 1
Total Time: 10 minutes
Ingredients:
4 frozen ice cubes unsweetened coconut milk
1 banana
1 heaping spoonful of natural peanut butter
1/4 avocado
1/2 cup kale
1/4 cup oats
1 Tbps cup ground flax seed
1 cup unsweetened almond milk
1 Tbps cup chia seeds
2 scoops chocolate protein powder (I love Orgains Organic Protein Powder)
Directions:
- A few hours before (or best the night before) pour coconut milk into ice trays to make ice cubes
- Combine coconut milk ice cubes, banana, peanut butter, avocado, kale, oats, flax seed, and unsweetened almond milk into a blender. Blend for 30 seconds
- Lastly, add chia seeds and chocolate protein powder and blend for another 30 seconds (I find that chia seeds and protein powder will stick to the sides if I combine them early on)
- Enjoy!
I’m honestly not that big a fan of smoothies. I would rather encourage people to eat real, delicious, and whole foods. However, this smoothie is PERFECT for a meal substitution in order to fast and give your digestive system the rest it needs. Let me give my 2 cents about meal substitutions- I really don’t believe they should be used for weight loss BUT when they pack as many nutrients and healthy fats as this recipe does, they can be used as a sort of fast for your body.
I literally can’t believe this has kale, avocado, and flax seeds AND still tastes delicious. My toddler has an absolute meltdown when his smoothie is gone!
