Spicy Garlic Hummus

Single Batch Serves: 3-4 Double Batch: 6-8

Total Time: 10-15 minutes

Ingredients:

1 can garbanzo beans

1/2 cup garbanzo bean juice

3 Tbsp tahini

3 Tbsp olive oil

1 lemon

1 tsp minced garlic

1 tsp sea salt

1 tsp black pepper

1 tsp crushed red pepper

Directions:

  1. Drain garbanzo bean juice into a 1/2 cup measuring cup. Pour the rest of the garbanzo juice out from the can
  2. Add garbanzo beans and garbanzo juice to a blender
  3. Add tahini, olive oil, juice of one lemon, garlic, salt, pepper, and crushed red pepper to blender mixture
  4. Mix on high for 45-60 seconds or until creamy mixture is achieved
  5. Serve with cucumbers, broccoli, carrots, and/or pita bread
  6. Enjoy!

Hummus is a staple in our family, and I got pretty tired of spending $4-5 per small container of hummus from the store! I was also pretty disappointed in all of the scratch hummus recipes but played around until I FINALLY found something our family loves!

*Toddler Tip: This recipe is way too spicy for kids, unless they love spicy things! Omit the crushed red pepper and you will still have a delicious creamy garlic hummus.
